Grave Shadows

Grave Shadows was by far the largest and most difficult project I've had the fortune of working on thus far. This project not only reiterated the importance of scope, but also reinforced teamwork and cooperation between all departments of game development.

The game (in it's current state) was created in around six months by a team of six students. We wanted to capture the noir aesthetic with a somewhat supernatural twist.

You play as Colton Graves, a former-detective-turned-private-eye who gained the ability to step into the shadows after an accident while investigating a dangerous weapons dealing syndicate.

Each playthrough, the ringleader of this syndicate is randomized. This means that the evidence a player might find in any given playthrough will be different (and in different locations to boot!)

We wanted to make the player feel like a real, tried-and-true noir detective, and so the player is tasked with linking evidence together to figure out the culprit.

Grave Shadows was featured as one of five international finalists at E3 2019's College Game Competition, and was a competitor at GameFest 2019 in Albany, NY.

I served as a game, narrative, and level designer on this project, and serve as Lead Narrative Designer for further development.
